Boeckl's fiancée's brother is shown as a dark figure against a light background.
The young man's head is bowed with inner agitation and tension. At the same
time, he raises his eyes, betraying churning emotions. The picture gives a premonition
of the fate of the 16-year-old high-school pupil, who fell in the defence of
Carinthia a few weeks after the work was completed.
